Meet Jaqueline Gonzalez
As a parent, educator, and longtime advocate in our CVESD community, I believe strong schools begin with listening to families, supporting educators, and making sure every child has the opportunity to thrive.Â

My connection to CVESD began as a parent, volunteering in my daughters’ classrooms and becoming involved in parent leadership. Over the years, I served as DAC/DELAC Chairperson, advocating for families and helping ensure the voices of parents, especially English Learner families, were heard. Those experiences shaped my belief that strong schools are built through collaboration, transparency, and meaningful partnerships with families.
Why I'm Running
I'm running for the CVESD school board because I want the families, educators, and staff of our district to feel heard when decisions are made.
As a CVESD parent. I raised my daughters here in Chula Vista. Navigating their education made me want to understand how decisions affecting students and families are made, and to be part of them.
As a parent leader and advocate. Through DAC/DELAC and my work with English Learner families, I learned how much meaningful parent engagement matters, especially for families who don't always feel represented.
As a member of this community. I moved to Chula Vista after high school and raised my family here. I've seen how families' circumstances shape what their children need from our schools.
As a CVESD substitute teacher. Working inside the district, I see opportunities to modernize systems, improve efficiency, and make processes more accessible, while supporting teachers, substitute teachers, classified employees, and everyone who serves our students.
On the board, I will listen. Board members should ask questions, stay accessible, and consider how every decision affects the people they represent.

My Priorities for CVESD
Meaningful Parent Engagement
Parents are a school's greatest resource, but too often they're informed after decisions are made. As a former DAC/DELAC chairperson, I've seen what happens when families have a real seat at the table. I will work to make CVESD meetings, surveys, and communications easier to reach and easier to understand
Transparency and Accessible BudgetsÂ
Every family deserves to know how their district spends its money. I will advocate for budget information that is clear, plain-language, and easy to find, so parents don't need to be finance experts to understand what's funded and why. I will ensure the district publishes a short annual budget summary for families.
Safe Schools
Students learn best when they feel safe, and teachers teach best in the same conditions. I will support safe, welcoming campuses by listening to families, staff, and school leaders, and by making sure safety plans are practical and clearly communicated. I will make sure our schools have clear protocols to protect all our students.Â
Strong AcademicsÂ
Every child in Chula Vista deserves a strong foundation, especially in reading and math. I will support high-quality teaching, and back the programs and training educators tell us work, so every student has the opportunity to succeed. I will advocate for the resources that each teacher needs in the classroom to focus on reading and math.Â
English Learners and Special EducationÂ
Students who are learning English or receiving special education services should have every opportunity to thrive. I will work to make sure these programs have the resources they need, and that families understand their children's services and rights. I will advocate for clear, timely communication for families about services
How to vote Jaqueline Gonzalez in the CVESD School Board Election
Make sure you are registered
Election Day is Tuesday, November 3, 2026. Every registered voter in San Diego County gets a ballot in the mail.
The last day to register online, or to update your address, and still get a ballot by mail is October 19. Check or update your registration at sdvote.com. If you miss the deadline, you can register and vote at a vote center starting October 20.
Watch for your ballot.
Return it your way
Ballots will arrive the week of October 5. Mark your choices, sign the return envelope, and seal it. Your signature is required for your ballot to count.

By mail: Postage is free. The envelope must be postmarked by Tuesday, November 3.

At a drop box: Official ballot drop boxes are open from October 6 until 8 p.m. on Election Day.

In person: Select vote centers open October 24, and all vote centers open October 31.
On Election Day, all vote centers are open from 7 a.m. - 8 p.m.
